July 13, 2011.. The International Hockey Federation has released the July edition of the FIH Hockey Monthly show.

The monthly show allows hockey fans and players to enjoy some of the best hockey action around the world through the FIH’s You Tube channel.

This release shows action from the Wagener Stadium in Amsterdan during the Rabo FIH Champions Trophy, the ESB Electric Ireland FIH Champions Challenge I in Dublin, the tournament where South Africa legend Pietee Coetzee, who sealed her place in hockey history by becoming breaking the world goal-scoring record.

The show also covers action the Rabobank 4 Nations event, with The Netherlands, Germany, Pakistan and England all taking to the field.

KHU Vaisakhi tourney: Video Clips of mens matches

April 27, 2011.. Video clips of some of the mens matches during the just conluded Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) sponsored Vaisakhi hockey tournament held at City Park, Nairobi.

The tournament was won by the Kenya Police (men) and Orange Telkom (ladies). Kenya Police saw off long time rivals Strathmore University Gladiators by 2 – 0 while Orange Telkom put 5 goals past the determined Strathmore Ladies team to earn a 5 – 2 win in the ladies finals.

April 26, 2011.. Video clips of some of the ladies matches during the just conluded Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) sponsored Vaisakhi hockey tournament held at City Park, Nairobi.

Orange, the defending champions, won the match 5 – 1 with attack maestro Jackline Mwangi neeting a hat-trick in the process.  Clip 1 shows her second goal of the match while clip 2 shows a penalty corner by Sliders (in white).

Strathmore ladies (Scorpions) vs Vikings
Strathmore and Vikinsg are both upcoming teams, with Strathmore only on its second year in the Kenya Hockey Union womens national league. This match ended 1 – 0 in favor of Strathmore, a goal scored by Lucy Wanjiru in the first half.

KHU releases fixtures for NOC – Kenya floodlights tournament

Fixtures for the NOC – Kenya floodlights hockey tournament has been released.

The match schedule sees mens defending champions Strathmore University take on Coast IX at 12.30 pm, followed by last years runner up Kenya Police taking on Nyanza IX at 1:15 pm. Nairobi Simba then battle it out with Green Sharks at 2:00 pm.

The first ladies match will bully-off at 2:45 pm with champions Orange taking on Virgin Vikings.

The matches promise to be a battle of titans as each team seeks to set the pace for the coming season. Three of the strongest teams last season – Strathmore University, Kenya Police and Nairobi Simba – have a chance to try out some of the new signings with the Strathmore Coach expecting a good outing having retained the bulk of his team from last season.

The team finished fourth in the Africa Club cup championship in December 2010.

Other teams have also heavily recruited and will be using the tournament to showcase and try-out their new talent.

The tournament finals gala is also widely expected double up as the trophy presentation gala for last seasons (2010) league champions.
