KHU League fixtures postponed

KHU_coaching seminar

April 27, 2012. Nairobi. The Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Match Secretary Jane Nyamogo has today dispatched a notice to all Kenya Hockey clubs that this Saturday’s (tommorow) and Sunday’s fixtures have been postponed.

The short note reads in part “due to unavoidable circumstances, the (KHU) fixtures committee has moved all fixtures forward by one week.”

This means that teams that were to play on the 28th / 29th April 2012 will now play on the 5th/6th May 2012.

Fixtures from May 14th will be released to clubs by end of next week (April 30th – May 4th).

The news throws a number of clubs into disaaray coming less than 24 hours to some games. Most clubs were ready to play tommorow, Saturday.

The knee-jerk cancelations of fixtures also does little to instill trust in a union that is already reeling from broken promises to clubs concerning the 2-leg league and talk of Kenya Hockey matches being aired live on Dstv’s Supersport.

Action resumes tomorrow at City Park with Strathmore Scorpions taking on the Virgin Vikings after which it will be a varsities affair pitting Multimedia against Daystar. The last duel of the day will see Karate Axiom trying to get their first points of the season against a Mombasa Sports Club side who are buoyed with the victory they managed against their hometown rivals Mvita VI.

Sunday will mark the end of what can be termed as phase one of the fixtures released by the Kenya Hockey Union for all the leagues. The Orange ladies will take on the Eaglets,Nairobi Simba will square it out with Mombasa Sports Club, then pave way for the battle of the ‘Parks’ between Parklands and Parkroad. Sunday’s business will be wrapped up after Kenya Police taking on KCAU Wazito. The Cops will also be out to gunner their first points of the season after back to back defeats in the hands of Wazalendo and Nairobi Simba.Be part of the action by posting comments, match updates, taking match day photos, uploading them and tagging KHH. Nairobi, April 9..It was a case of the Russian roulette for the Kenya Police as the Kenya Hockey defending champions got off to their worst start of the hockey season.

After suffering a shock defeat to an on-form Wazalendo, the cops went on to crush to a 3 – 2 defeat at the hands of Nairobi Simba on Sunday 8th April. The loss leaves the defending champions in a precarious position best summed up as “being three points below league new comers Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) with MSC having a match at hand”.
