The Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) has officially opened the 2012 hockey season transfer window.

The one and a half month window runs from the 1st of December 2011 to the 15th of January 2012. Unlike previous transfer windows, Jane Nyamogo the KHU Match & Fixtures Secretary, in a letter sent to all KHU Club Secretaries and Team Managers says that there will be no extensions on the transfers final date.

Re-registration for current players is set at Ksh. 1000 while new players register at Ksh. 2000. A fee of Ksh. 1,500 and Ksh. 2,500 will be levied for late re-registration and late new registration respectively.

November 14, 2011…The Zambia Hockey Association (ZHA) is set to host the 2011 edition of the AfHF  Africa Cup for Club Champions Competition (ACCC).

The annual tournament, to be hosted at the , in Lusaka, Zambia will run from the 10th to the 17th of December 2011.

This will be the first international tournament for the sand-based hockey pitch which was commissioned in May 2010.  The pitch was built as a partnership between the Africa Hockey Federation (AfHF), International Hockey Federation (FIH) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in an effort to give the youth in Zambabwe a chance to engage in sports while learning the Olympic values.

November 12,  2011…Kenya Police are the new 2011 Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) men’s Premier League champions.The resilient Kenneth Kaunda’s charges ended the season well, braving a nervous last-minute showdown to beat a resurgent Nairobi Simba 2-1 in the decisive league match at City Park to clinch the title.

Police, one of the oldest clubs in the country, claimed the title, thanks to their better goal aggregate after outgoing champions Strathmore edged out stubborn United States International University (USIU-A) 1-0 earlier.

November 12, 2011…The title race for the Kenya Hockey Union premier league mens tropy came to a dramatic end saturday afternoon. The Kenya Police hockey team have won the title for the first time in history.

The police team had a 2 -1 win over Nairobi simba in a match played at 4pm at City Park Hockey stadium, Nairobi.  strathmore had played an earlier match at 2pm and earned a 1 – 0 win over university side usiu-a.

Going into the match,both teams had tied an all points (26 each) separated by goal difference. Police had enjoyed a 7 goal lead.

The Orange ladies hockey team has retained its title in the  KHU womens league for the 11th straight year. The Kenya Navyis also poised to lift the KHU Men’s National league trophy.
