Monday 17, Nov 2011… Edmond Oduor notched a hat-trick to propel KCA to a deserved 3 – 0 victory over Green Sharks Hockey Club in a Kenya Hockey Union league match. The match, played at City Park Hockey Stadium had its first half end in a barren draw before KCA turned on the heat in the second half. Oduor scored three goals in the 49th, 61st and 68th minute of the game to turn the game over its head.

Other weekend matches saw University of Nairobi grant the Kenya Navy team its first defeat this season in the mens National Legaue. The students deservedly won the match 3 – 0 to send the soldiers back on the drawing board. The loss however does not affect Kenya Navy’s standing in the league table.

2011 Coaching Seminar in Mombasa by the Kenya Hockey Union

The Kenya Hockey Union through the Coaching and Development Committee intend to hold a Coaching Seminar in Mombasa during the SANA TOURNAMENT scheduled for 21st to 23rd October 2011.

Orange ladies set new goal scoring record

Monday 3rd October 2011… Kenyan womens hockey champions Orange ladies taught Multimedia University ladies a hockey lesson with a 21 – 0 demolition.

Orange had a 5 – 0 lead at half time and scored 17 more goals with no response in the second half. Betsy Omala, Tracy Nungari and Rose Mbulo scored one goal each; Betty Tioni, Lucy Wangeci and Captain Doreen Barasa scored two goals each while Margaret Rotich, out going goalkeeper Josephine Ataro and ex-USIU danger lady Barbara Simiyu each got a hat-trick.

Mombasa Sports Club women hockey team punished Multi-Media University with a 14 – 0 defeat in the two weekend Kenya Hockey Union matches that were on at the Mombasa Sports Club over the past weekend.

MSC had put a 10 – 0 goal rout on Saturday before settling for a lesser 4 – 0 on Sunday 9th November.

“We have come of age and the players have now matured and gelled, making life very difficult for our opponents,” said MSC captain Cecilia Wamukonji.

MSC was the first team to score a goal against the current KHU women’s league leaders and Kenya’s representatives to the Africa Club Cup Championships 2011, Orange Ladies team.
