Kenya Police's Shikuku (left) celebrates after scoring his teams 4th goal against Kenya College of Acountance (KCA)

April 18, 2011.. Day two of the KHU Vaisakhi International tournament picked up from the first day with a total of 16 goals being scored in 4 matches. The matches were played at City Park.

In the days main match, a well oiled Kenya Police team made mince meat of KCA University, drubbing the students 5 goals to one. The students lone goal was through a penalty flick earned after a Police defender stick-tackled an advancing forward in the first half. This was to be the only goal for the students.

The police team marshalled by captains Shikuku and Moses Cheplait, ran circles around the students and dominated the midfield play. Their dominance was rewarded with two goals in quick succession.

After a neat buildup from their midfield, Kenya Police’s Shikuku dribbled past the KCA left back before making a low hit into the KCA 18-yard box. New signing Joab Ondiro was at the end of the pass to make a seamless deflection to the roof of the goal. The goal keeper was left motionless. Shikuku was once again invoved in the fourth goal, taking advantage of a defensive mix-up after a failed short corner clearance to drive a low shot into the goal.

The second half was generaly silent with Kenya Police getting the 5th goal in the dying minutes of the game.

KCA created a fair number of scoring opportunities but were denied by Police goalkeeper Kayieko, who was austanding in goal. Despite losing the match, KCA gave a good account of themselves and Kenya Police has their goal keeper Kayieo to thank for the 5 – 1 win.

Other matches featured KHU National League debutants Multimedia University (MMU) facing regulars Kenya Polytechnic. MMU dictated the pace and were 3 – 1 up by the end of first half. Kenya Poly put up a spirited fight and made a remarkable comeback to end the game at 3 – 3. Multimedia has shown great improvement since signing up for the KHU league and the draw against Kenya Poly was seen as a sign that it is a team to watch in the National League.

Sunday wrap-up: Multi media vs kenya poly (3 – 3). Vikings vs sliders (1 – 0). nairobi simba vs parklands (2 – 1). Kenya Police vs KCA-U (5 – 1). Matches resume next weekend.
